Plot:

My thoughts:

I don’t know why it took me so long to pick this book up! It has been on my shelf for ages now, and finally my tbr-jar allowed me to read it (btw, my tbr-jar is a life saver). Holy shit, this is such an amazing book! I enjoyed it so much, it was pure fun and entertainment from start to finish.

Ismae is a very interesting character and I absolutely adored her. I loved that she was allowed to be hard yet gentle. She did not turn ice cold in order to be a badass, no, she still remained a warm caring person capable of assassinating people. Brilliant.

Duval is the perfect sassy gentleman that you will both want to strangle and coo at. He is a good man, but also quite intriguing. Adored him just as much as I adored Ismae.

The book also has a cast of interesting characters that add some extra spice to the story. I was psyched to know that the next two books in this series will follow two of Ismae’s sisters in death. Looking forward to reading their stories.

The plot was so much fun and so very interesting. It grabbed you from the get go and was just as entertaining from start to finish. La Fevre managed to expertly combine the past with the present in the story, something that created a solid yet super interesting story. It was intriguing with several surprising twists and turns.

Do I recommend it? 

Yes, I do!
